There is a fundamental peace that comes with being near his son in a way that allows Aramis to hold him, to sing to him. Even though things are still unresolved in Paris, he is not one to look a gift horse in the mouth. He cradles the Dauphin to his chest and hums even as he hears a knock at the door. He walks over and peers into the small looking glass to see Porthos on the other side.

Well. It isn't as if he can pretend to not be here, is it? And if he can adjust to his friend being a woman, then surely, Porthos will take the news of his being the Dauphin's father ... in stride?

Aramis can hope.

Holding the baby securely, he opens the door to his friend.

Porthos has been looking for somebody to spar with, and his first thoughts always go to his fellow Musketeers. He's turned to the door closest to his first, and he smiles when it opens, because Aramis will not refuse him. He probably needs this as much as Porthos does; they do not do well without action.

He did not expect Aramis to be holding a baby in his arms. He's about to ask whose baby this is - surely his friend hasn't had time to make anyone at the hotel pregnant, but given the fact that some of the ladies here aren't exactly human, Porthos isn't dismissing the possibility entirely. He's about to ask, when he notices the fleur-de-lis on the blanket the baby is wrapped in. All babies look fairly alike to him, for the most part, but this one does seem a little familiar.

"...is that the Dauphin?" he asks, frowning in confusion - and hope. He would feel better with the Dauphin here, and safe, than anywhere Rochefort can get to him.
