Rationally, Aramis knows it cannot go on. But his heart tells a different story. That and knowing that his son is there - just out of reach.
Perhaps in some way, he had given up hope at having a family and now he has one - a woman he loves and admires and a son - and he cannot be near them?
It is an agony that eats at his very heart.
"That does not mean that I do not wish to keep them both safe, and to do all I can to protect the Queen and the Dauphin," he tells Constance.
